The Cayman Islands Institute of Professional Accountants (CIIPA) will host its annual Business Environment Update on 5 November, examining the economic forces shaping the jurisdiction’s growth and competitiveness.
The session will feature finance and economics minister Rolston Anglin, who will provide an update on the Cayman Islands economy and business environment, alongside Paul Byles, director of financial services consultancy FTS.
Byles will lead a session titled ‘Cayman’s economic growth puzzle: Talent, capacity, global demand and competitiveness’, exploring the challenges facing the jurisdiction as its international business sector expands.
The discussion will examine how global demand, business growth and access to international talent have contributed to Cayman’s economic success, while also considering pressures on labour supply, infrastructure and the population.
It will look at how the jurisdiction can capture greater economic value from international business while managing domestic capacity and sustaining long-term prosperity.
Byles said Cayman’s economic success has been driven by its ability to attract international business and talent, but that success also creates pressures on our domestic capacity.
“The challenge now is to find a sustainable balance between continued growth, infrastructure development and opportunities for Caymanians, given some very unique features of how our economy operates,” he said.
The event is open to professionals at all levels working in Cayman and will provide two hours of continuing professional development (CPD) credit.
It will take place from 9am to 11am at the George Town Yacht Club on North Sound Road. Registration opens at 8:30am, with a continental breakfast provided.
Tickets cost CI$50 for CIIPA members and $70 for non-members. For further information or to register, those interested can visit CIIPA’s event page.
