CayMusicA is once again partnering with the SoNoRo Festival to bring a series of chamber music performances to Grand Cayman.
The SoNoRo Chamber Music Festival, from 28 April to 2 May, will feature a line-up of internationally recognised musicians.
They include Romanian co-founder and violist Razvan Popovici, violinists Mihaela Martin and Alexandra Conunova, cellist Valentin Radutiu, and pianist Lise de la Salle. CayMusicA co-founder and concert pianist Glen Inanga will also perform.

Now in its third consecutive year locally, the SoNoRo Chamber Music Festival was first launched in Bucharest in 2006 with the aim of redefining the chamber music genre by blending it with visual arts, literature and architecture.
The festival has since expanded across Romania and Europe, while maintaining a focus on connecting music with communities.
Marius Gaina, executive director of CayMusicA, said the organisation, formerly Cayman Music Festival, was delighted to welcome “these incredible musicians”.
“Although they usually perform in large venues internationally, here in Cayman we have been able to showcase them in intimate settings to create unique experiences for our audiences,” he added in a press release. “This festival will be very special.”
The programme will include a mix of private and public concerts, each centred around a different theme.
An opening gala is scheduled for Tuesday, 28 April, as a fundraising event for CayMusicA and the SoNoRo Festival.
The first public concert, titled ‘Dreams,’ will take place on Wednesday, 29 April at the George Town Public Library from 6pm to 7pm, featuring works by composers including Camille Saint-Saëns, Frédéric Chopin and Maurice Ravel.
A second themed concert, ‘Unforgettable,’ will be held on 30 April at St George’s Anglican Church, with performances of works by Mozart and Beethoven. This event will be by invitation only.
The programme also includes a children’s concert at Cayman Prep Primary School, aimed at introducing younger audiences to classical music.

The festival will conclude on 2 May with a finale performance at Elmslie Memorial United Church in George Town. The closing concert will feature pieces by Richard Strauss, Mieczyslaw Weinberg and Johannes Brahms, among others.
Adding a further dimension to this year’s event, musical therapist Angelica Postu will also participate, demonstrating the role music can play in supporting wellbeing.
Gaina noted that the SoNoRo festival has become a key part of CayMusicA’s annual calendar.
“The festival is very well established now as an annual event,” he said. “It is different from our other events, which include our annual piano festival in the fall and our signature Cayman Arts Festival in February.
“By bringing SoNoRo and chamber music to the Cayman Islands, we feel we have complemented our other offerings while continuing to meet our mission to provide musical education and bring world-class performers to the Cayman Islands.”
Tickets for public performances are available through the Cayman Arts Festival website.
CayMusicA is a non-profit organisation dedicated to bringing international musicians to the Cayman Islands and supporting music education for young people.
