CayMusicA starts new year with two flamenco concerts

CayMusicA is kicking off 2026 with two flamenco concerts as part of its regular ‘Music at the Library’ series.

The Nathan Herrera Trio will perform on Thursday, 15 January, at George Town Public Library, while Caro will play at the same venue on Saturday, 17 January.

The Nathan Herrera Trio will treat audiences to a variety of traditional styles of music, but with a modern twist.

Original works will be performed on guitar, percussion and electric bass, and Herrera – who leads the group – will provide a commentary throughout the performance, offering insights into the cultural and musical meaning of each piece.

Herrera has been playing guitar since the age of 15, pursuing his passion through masterclasses with renowned musicians like Pepe Romero, the LA Guitar Quartet and Adam Del Monte.

He’s performed at high profile events such as Sarah Jessica Parker’s Fashion’s Night Out, Alicia Keys and the Tribeca Film Festival, as well as private occasions like the weddings of Jesse Tyler Ferguson and the producer of ‘The Regis and Kelly Show’.

Joining Herrera on Thursday, will be the other two members of the trio, William Murray on guitar and Luis Eden on percussion.

Seasoned performer, Caro, will showcase her own, unique perspective of flamenco music.

She has immersed herself in Spanish gypsy culture and offers performances that are a unique blend of masculine and feminine energies.

Marius Gaina, executive director of CayMusicA, said in a press release: “We are very excited to have these accomplished artists perform for us.

“These two events enable us to showcase a unique genre of music and they promise to be extremely engaging and lively.”

CayMusicA will also offer a free masterclass for young guitarists aged 8 and up who are interested in exploring flamenco music on Friday, 16 February from 4pm in the Studio at Harquail Theatre. There is no need to register, just turn up.

Both concerts run from 6pm to 7pm.

Tickets are CI$25 at the door and US$30 online. For those buying tickets online, CayMusicA is inviting people to bring a friend for a two-for-one ticket price.

Tickets for students are CI$10 at the door or US$10 online.
