Caribbean Utilities Company (CUC) has received three major honours at the inaugural CARILEC Awards of Excellence, including the top award for ‘Overall Best Performing Utility’.
The awards were presented during the Caribbean Electric Utility Services Corporation (CARILEC) CEO’s and Leadership Conference 2026, held at the Hilton Barbados Resort from 18 to 21 May.
CUC received gold awards for ‘Overall Best Performing Utility’ and ‘Best Service Reliability’, while also sharing the gold award for ‘Best Environmental Performance’.
According to CARILEC, the new awards programme recognises outstanding achievement across the Caribbean electric utility sector using operational and performance data submitted by member utilities through benchmarking and tariff reports.
The ‘Overall Best Performing Utility’ award recognises performance across several categories, including operations, finance, customer service, safety, environmental standards and sustainability.
CUC said the recognition reflects the company’s efforts to deliver reliable energy services while balancing environmental responsibility and customer needs.
In a press release, shared on the Chamber of Commerce’s website, the company said the award aligns with its mission to provide “safe, reliable energy services at competitive costs” while respecting the environment and contributing to the wider community.
CARILEC represents electric utilities and energy-sector stakeholders across the Caribbean and promotes collaboration, training and performance standards within the regional industry.
The 2026 CEO’s and Leadership Conference brings together leaders from across the regional and international energy sector for an immersive three-day experience focused on the future of leadership, innovation, and sustainability in the energy sector.
