The Cayman Islands Monetary Authority (CIMA) is managing a transition period for updated fund de-registration procedures following the introduction of new online forms.
CIMA now requires all mutual fund and private fund de-registrations to be submitted through its online REEFS portal using updated forms.
This ended the previous practice of accepting email submissions for private fund terminations.
The change took effect on 8 November and affects how investment funds cease operations in Cayman.
For de-registrations submitted before the change, CIMA will continue processing applications under the previous system – if all supporting documents were received.
Applications submitted on or after 8 November without required documents by that date must be resubmitted using the new forms through REEFS.
Sub-fund and alternative investment vehicle de-registrations follow similar transitional rules, with the cut-off determining whether old or new procedures apply.
Firms requiring assistance with the new forms can access detailed completion guides on CIMA’s website or contact the terminations department directly.
