The Cayman Islands Monetary Authority (CIMA) in encouraging registration for its Virtual Asset Service Provider Regulatory Forum scheduled for Wednesday, 12 November, at Hotel Indigo Grand Cayman.
The half-day event, running from 9am to noon, will bring together directors, compliance professionals, anti-money laundering officers and corporate service providers to examine the evolving regulatory landscape for virtual assets.
CIMA’s chief executive officer and senior representatives will deliver opening remarks before six focused sessions cover the virtual asset regulatory framework.
The programme includes an introduction to the VASP regime and policy direction, followed by sessions on Financial Action Task Force (FATF) mutual evaluation readiness, including key initiatives and anti-money laundering requirements.
Regulatory measures addressing market conduct, outsourcing and waivers will be examined, alongside supervisory updates covering corporate governance and observations from recent inspections and reviews.
Application processing guidance will detail requirements for business plans, legal opinions and ensuring application completeness.
The forum will conclude with analysis of global industry trends including tokenisation, stablecoins, exchange-traded funds and emerging innovations.
The event aims to prepare industry participants for the Cayman Islands’ upcoming FATF mutual evaluation while ensuring alignment with international standards.
CIMA officials said it will provide opportunities for dialogue and knowledge-sharing to enhance understanding of the authority’s regulatory and supervisory approach to the virtual asset sector.
