Cayman Islands students have until Friday, 28 August, to submit artwork for the 2026 International Scuba Diving Hall of Fame Poster Competition.
This year’s competition is themed ‘What lies beneath’ and celebrates 40 years of marine parks in Cayman.
Students are encouraged to use their artwork to showcase the islands’ reefs, marine life and protected waters.
The competition is open to students aged eight to 17, who can create a 22-by-28-inch poster using paint, pencils, pastels or mixed media.
The first-place winner will receive CI$300, a Cayman Airways travel voucher and have their artwork featured at the ISDHF Induction Ceremony.
Second and third place winners will receive $200 and $150 respectively.
The competition forms part of the 2026 International Scuba Diving Hall of Fame celebrations, which will include the induction of local and international diving figures.
The annual awards recognise pioneers and leaders whose work has contributed to the diving industry through advocacy, innovation, education and sustainability.
The 2026 induction ceremony is scheduled for 4 September at Hotel Indigo Grand Cayman, where Cayman’s local honourees will be recognised alongside international inductees.
Two Cayman categories were open for nominations this year – the Honouree category, recognising individuals whose contributions to the diving industry were made before 2013, and the Emerging Honouree category, for individuals under 35 whose contributions have been made since 2013.
Nominations closed on 31 July.
Last year’s Cayman honourees included Courtney Platt and Jason Belport, who were named Local Honourees, while Ragime Powery received the Emerging Honouree award.
Students interested in entering the poster competition can submit their artwork online here or deliver it to the Department of Tourism offices on the third floor of SIX, Cricket Square, at 171 Elgin Avenue.
