Professionals are being invited to take part in a global virtual event focused on strengthening governance and accountability in government.
The session, hosted by the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC) and the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy (CIPFA), will mark the launch of the updated ‘International framework: Good governance in the public sector – 2026 edition’.
Scheduled for 6 May at 8am Cayman time, the online event — which was shared by the Cayman Islands Institute of Professional Accountants (CIIPA) — will explore how effective governance supports accountability, public trust and performance in public institutions.
Organisers say the session will outline key updates to the revised framework, while also examining emerging challenges facing governments and public sector organisations.
It will include practical guidance on how governance principles can be applied in real-world settings.
Participants will also hear from global leaders in the field, including IFAC chief executive Lee White and CIPFA chief executive Owen Mapley, alongside a panel of public sector experts.
The event is aimed at a wide audience, including public sector leaders, finance professionals, policymakers, auditors and advisors interested in strengthening governance practices.
The updated framework is intended to help public bodies improve decision-making, oversight and accountability, particularly at a time when governments are facing increasing pressure to deliver transparent and effective services.
The virtual format allows participants from across jurisdictions, including the Cayman Islands, to engage in the discussion and gain insight into international best practices.
Registration is open online here for those wishing to attend.
