Mourant’s Cayman Islands team have played a key role in a $1.8 billion deal involving a European quantum computing company.
The law firm acted as Cayman counsel to IQM Finland Oy on its business combination with Real Estate Acquisition Corp, which is listed on Nasdaq.
The transaction, which is subject to certain closing conditions, will make IQM the first European quantum computing company to go public.
The firm, headquartered in Finland, plans to use the funding from the deal to accelerate its technology and commercial development towards fault-tolerance quantum computing.
The company is also considering a dual listing, which could see its shares traded on the Helsinki Stock Exchange following completion of the deal.
The Cayman legal team was led by Mourant partner Andrew Grant, with support from associate Paris Goode.
Grant said in a press release on 20 March: “This transaction highlights our continued momentum acting as Cayman Islands counsel on significant business combinations and reinforces our expertise in advising on complex, high value mandates.”
