Hairdressers, barbers, tattoo and body piercing artists, and other professionals in the cosmetology field are invited to participate in upcoming training.
The Department of Environmental Health is hosting a Cosmetology Hygiene and Safety Training Course on Monday, 17 November, at the George Town Library.
The training is required for all new personnel working in the cosmetology industry and anyone whose certification has expired (certification expires after three years).
Business owners are encouraged to act now and register their employees for the workshop to educate operators on safe hygiene practices within the cosmetology industry.
Failure to become certified may affect the granting and/or renewal of trade and business licenses, a government press said.
The training will focus on equipment sterilisation and disinfection, and preventing the transmission of communicable diseases.
It will also look at providing participants with updates on the Department of Environmental Health’s guidelines for operating cosmetology-related establishments.
The cost of registration is CI$15 per person and includes the cost of materials.
Payment should be made at the Department of Environmental Health headquarters, located at 580 North Sound Road, between 8:30am and 4pm, Monday to Friday.
Those wishing to register can contact the department on (345) 949-6696 or via email at dehcustomerservice@gov.ky
