A free workshop aimed at helping businesses and creatives better understand how to protect their ideas and innovations is set to take place next month.
Enterprise Cayman will host ‘Intellectual property in Cayman and across the Caribbean’ on 6 May at Signal House off Fairbanks Road.
The session begins at 5:30pm and is open to tech companies, entrepreneurs and members of the creative industries.
The workshop will focus on the fundamentals of intellectual property (IP), including trademarks, copyrights, patents and design rights, and how they can be used to safeguard assets, strengthen brands and support growth across the region.

Alyssa Manderson, programme manager at Enterprise Cayman, told Cayman Independent: “Strong ideas deserve strong protection.
“As more entrepreneurs and creatives develop brands, products, software, and digital content, understanding intellectual property is becoming increasingly important.
“This session will give attendees practical guidance into how to protect the assets behind their work and make more informed decisions as they grow.”
The workshop will be led by Kate Cleary, IP manager at HSM IP Ltd, who has more than 15 years of experience managing global trademark portfolios and advising on intellectual property strategy across multiple jurisdictions.
HSM IP Ltd, based in the Cayman Islands, provides intellectual property services across the Caribbean, Latin America and other offshore jurisdictions, working with a range of international clients including major global brands and law firms.
“We’re excited to have Kate Cleary of HSM IP lead this conversation and help make what can often feel like a complex topic far more accessible,” Manderson said.
Although free, participants should register in advance. Those interested can do so here.
