US gospel singer Tasha Cobbs Leonard to headline Cayman concert

American gospel singer and powerhouse Tasha Cobbs Leonard will headline a special gospel concert on Saturday, 2 May.

Held at the agriculture grounds in Grand Cayman, the ‘Threads to our traditions’ concert celebrates the role faith and music have played in shaping Caymanian culture and community.

Also confirmed to perform are the Cayman Islands Folk Singers, John Gray High School Choir, William Family (formerly Williams Quartet), Elmslie Memorial United Church, Cranston Forbes and Band, the Praise Team of the New Testament Church of God, Colindra Rodericka McGarvey-Sterling, Lindsey-Ann Connolly (Cayman Brac), and Soujourners.

The event, part of Heritage Month, is being organised by the Ministry of Youth, Sports, Culture and Heritage.

“The Gospel Concert is a key part of Heritage Month, bringing together music, culture and community in a way that reflects the values and traditions that define us as Caymanians,” culture and heritage minister Isaac Rankine told Cayman Independent.

The concert starts at 6:30pm and runs until 10pm. Entry is free.

Signage will be in place to guide parking and seniors will be accommodated with drop-off and pick-up access at the entrance.

A variety of local food and drink vendors will be on site, with complimentary water provided.
