The Cayman Islands Under-14 Girls National Football Team is set to travel to the Dominican Republic this July for a series of friendly matches.
The 10-day tour is part of its final preparations for the Caribbean Football Union (CFU) U-14 Challenge Series Girls this August.
From 11 to 20 July, the Cayman squad will play four matches – two against Dominican Republic national teams and two against local club sides, including Club Real Deportivo.
The matches will provide valuable international experience and help sharpen the team’s competitive edge ahead of the regional tournament, a 24 June CIFA press release said.
Martha Godet, CIFA women’s technical director, said: “We’re incredibly grateful to our sponsors for investing in the development of young female athletes.
“This tour offers our girls a fantastic opportunity to gain exposure to high-level competition and build team cohesion.
“It’s an important step in preparing for the CFU Challenge Series, and we’re proud of the commitment these players have shown.”
The CFU U-14 Challenge Series Girls competition is a key fixture in CIFA’s youth development pathway.
It provides young players with the chance to gain international tournament experience early in their football journey, the press release said.
That tournament takes place from 15 to 24 August in Trinidad and Tobago.
