(Code)Cayman – a non-profit offering free coding classes to the Cayman Islands community – has two courses kicking off this month.
‘After School Coding’ is aimed at youngsters aged between 10 and 15, while the other Women.Code is for women keen to learn the skill.
The first class, sponsored by Walkers law firm, runs on Tuesdays for eight weeks from 20 January, between 4pm and 5pm at CCTech Lab on Dorcy Drive, George Town.

Participants will learn to design webpages and create simple games using HTML, CSS and JavaScript languages, working on (Code)Cayman’s Tech Lab laptops. Healthy snacks and flash drives will provided.
Women.Code, meanwhile, is sponsored by Butterfield Bank, and runs on Wednesdays for five weeks from 28 January from 4pm to 5pm, also at CCTech Lab on Dorcy Drive.
Participants will learn to design interactive webpages and create simple animations using HTML, CSS and JavaScript coding languages. Those joining should bring their own laptop to the classes.
Jason Nehra, managing director of Code(Cayman), told Cayman Independent: “All of Code(Cayman)’s courses, camps and programmes are delivered at no cost to local residents.
“Our commitment to ensure that all Cayman residents have access to tech skills is entirely supported by our generous sponsors.”
