Turtle Crawl 5K to raise vital funds for conservation

The 5th annual Turtle Crawl takes place this weekend and will help raise much needed conservation funds.

The Turtle Crawl, on Sunday, 8 June, is a 5 kilometre walk or run that starts at the Cayman Turtle Centre in West Bay, heads along Northwest Point Road to West Bay Public Beach and then returns to the centre.

All money raised at the family-friendly event goes to the turtle centre and its work to support the conservation of green sea turtles and other native wildlife.

Everyone is welcome to take part and all participants get a Turtle Crawl t-shirt, chances to win prizes and awards, and the chance to enter a post-race raffle.

Dr Vandanaa Baboolal, a veterinarian at the Cayman Turtle Centre, said: “Every year since the inception of this walk/run, we’ve seen the community show up and support in so many meaningful ways, and we’re proud to be promoting our fifth annual event.

“I want to encourage anyone who hasn’t registered yet to visit our website and sign up today.

“With every registration, you are actively helping to fund essential medical equipment and other vital resources that directly support our conservation work.”

Turtle Crawl participants will enjoy special resident admission price to the Cayman Turtle Centre on race day, with tickets $10 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under.
