Ogier bolsters Cayman corporate offering with London hire

Law firm Ogier has appointed Racheal Muldoon as a partner in its London office, expanding the firm’s Cayman Islands corporate offering.

Her appointment is subject to admission as an attorney-at-law by the Grand Court of the Cayman Islands.

Muldoon joins Ogier’s corporate team, where she will handle cross-border matters involving digital assets, fintech, Web3 and emerging technologies.

In a news release on 12 January, the company said that her role will centre on Cayman Islands structures used by technology companies, investment funds, founders and institutional investors with international operations.

A senior barrister, Muldoon has worked with governments, regulators, financial institutions and technology companies on matters involving AI, blockchain, digital assets and financial technology.

Her past work includes securing what has been described as the world’s first proprietary injunction relating to NFTs.

She also obtained the first grant of permission by courts in England and Wales to serve legal proceedings via blockchain airdrop.

Global head of corporate Nathan Powell said: “Racheal’s appointment represents a significant enhancement of our Cayman corporate capability in London and reinforces Ogier’s position as a leading adviser to clients operating in technology driven and digitally native markets.

“Her market-defining experience in crypto, fintech and emerging technologies aligns closely with our clients’ needs as they navigate regulatory complexity and global expansion.”

Muldoon will also be part of Ogier’s international multidisciplinary technology and Web3 team, which advises clients on structuring, launching, financing and evolving digital and decentralised projects.

The team also handles blockchain and cryptocurrency-related investment products and services, with lawyers based across key financial centres.

The hire follows recent activity in Ogier’s Cayman Islands corporate practice.

In December, the firm advised on two Cayman-incorporated special purpose acquisition companies that raised a combined US$644 million in initial public offerings on Nasdaq.
