Collas Crill names new partner in Cayman fund finance practice

Collas Crill has appointed Dr Agnes Molnar as a partner in the Cayman Islands to lead its fund finance and private credit practice.

Molnar brings more than 20 years of legal experience advising fund sponsors, asset managers and lenders on private capital liquidity solutions.

Her practice combines fund finance, private credit and structured private credit to address financing needs across a fund’s lifecycle.

In a press release on 11 October, Ellie Crespi, head of Collas Crill’s Caribbean practice, welcomed Molnar’s appointment.

“We are delighted to welcome Agnes aboard. Our firm is focused on relationships and servicing all elements of the corporate lifecycle as trusted adviser to our clients,” she said.

“Agnes’s values and practice are aligned with the very core of our approach, complementing and further elevating our global private credit offering. I am very excited to work with Agnes.”

At the formation stage, Molnar advises on establishing Cayman vehicles used for borrowing, investment and issuance.

These include exempted limited partnerships, exempted companies, segregated portfolio companies, rated note feeders, co-investment vehicles and special purpose vehicles.

Her work also covers subscription facilities during a fund’s investment period, followed by net asset value (NAV) and hybrid facilities, asset-based finance, preferred equity and general partner financing as portfolios mature.

For funds in later stages, she advises on financing for secondary transactions and continuation vehicles, collateralised fund obligations, and securitisations involving management fees, capital calls and other portfolio cash flows.

Her practice also features Shari’ah-compliant structures.

Molnar’s private credit work includes loan-on-loan portfolio financings and bespoke structures, bringing fund-level borrowing and liquidity planning within the same advisory offering.

Fund sponsors, asset managers, banks, private credit and alternative lenders, institutional investors acting as co-investors and capital providers, and onshore law firms are among her past clients.

Molnar said fund-level financing had become a central part of how sponsors manage liquidity, with Cayman playing a key role in the market.

“Collas Crill’s strong offshore platform is well placed to serve sponsors and their financiers globally and I am pleased to be part of it,” she said.
