The Cayman Arts Festival is opening its autumn season of Music at the Library with two talented local artists.
Pianist Glen Inanga and cellist Dequan Smith McConvey will perform at George Town Public Library on 18 September.
They will play Chopin’s Cello Sonata in G minor, Op. 65 and Beethoven’s Cello Sonata No. 2 in G minor, Op. 5 No. 2.
For Smith McConvey, this concert has become a tradition before he returns to the UK for another year of studies at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, according to the Cayman Arts Festival.
He is a former Butterfield Young Musician of the Year and finalist in the Young Musician of the Caribbean Award.

Inanga, who is Cayman Arts Festival’s artistic director and a senior lecturer at the University College of the Cayman Islands, studied at the Royal Academy of Music in London.
The acclaimed musician has performed internationally as a concert pianist soloist, including with orchestras such as the BBC Philharmonic at the BBC Proms, in an award-winning piano duo with Jennifer Micallef and as a chamber musician on recordings with Grammy Award-winning artists Eliesha Nelson and John McLaughlin Williams.
Marius Gaina, executive director of Cayman Arts Festival, told Cayman Independent: “Music at the Library opens its doors to the beauty of live performance, connecting our community through the power of music.
“This season begins on 18 September with a recital by pianist Glen Inanga and cellist Dequan Smith, celebrating artistry, talent, and the joy of shared musical experiences.”
The concerts, featuring a variety of artists, will then be held once a month from 6pm to 7pm.
Tickets to the opening concert on 18 September can be bought here. Prices range from CI$10 to $30.
