Maples signs landmark deal for new Camana Bay headquarters

The Maples Group has announced it will relocate the majority of its Cayman Islands operations to a new headquarters in Camana Bay.

The global legal, fiduciary and fund services firm described the deal as one of the largest commercial office leasing transactions in Cayman’s history.

It has signed on to occupy more than 70% of the purpose-built office building at 90 Nexus Way, which is currently under construction and is scheduled for completion in 2027.

The move will bring together several Cayman-based teams under one roof for the first time in more than 20 years, consolidating operations that are currently spread across multiple locations.

In a press release, Maples Group said the relocation supports the firm’s long-running ‘One Group’ strategy, aimed at strengthening collaboration between its legal, fiduciary, regulatory and fund services businesses.

The new headquarters will include executive boardrooms, team collaboration areas, client meeting spaces, quiet rooms and staff amenities, with a focus on flexible working arrangements and technology-enabled workspaces.

Michael Richardson, managing partner of Maples and Calder in the Cayman Islands – the legal arm of the company – said the investment reflects the firm’s long-term commitment to the jurisdiction.

“This marks an exciting new chapter for the Maples Group,” Richardson said.

“Our new headquarters will bring our teams together in a modern environment that fosters collaboration, supports innovation and reflects the scale and ambition of our business.”

Guy Major, co-chief executive officer of the Maples Group, meanwhile, said the design of the new premises aims to encourage “movement, connection and flexibility, where people can move, meet and work together more naturally”.

He added: “When you have a workplace that people actively use and want to be in, it changes how teams connect, how they work together and ultimately how they deliver for our clients.”

The building will incorporate sustainability features, including energy-efficient systems, renewable energy generation and design standards aligned with LEED environmental principles.

Mark VanDevelde, chief executive officer of Camana Bay owners Dart, said securing the Maples Group as the building’s anchor tenant was a milestone for the development.

“Welcoming the Maples Group as a cornerstone tenant is a defining moment for Camana Bay,” he said.

Construction and interior fit-out work will continue through 2026 and 2027, with the firm expected to move into the new headquarters in the autumn of 2027, coinciding with its 60th anniversary.
