The Maples Group has received a top tier ranking for offshore services in the annual legal directory, Chambers Asia-Pacific Guide 2026.
The firm has held a Band 1 ranking in this category for more than 10 years, with clients and peers providing feedback that contribute to the position.
“Maples Group fields a team with standout experts on Cayman Islands and BVI law with laudable strength in investment funds work,” Chambers says.
The global legal research and ranking organisation adds: “It offers pan-Asian coverage of M&A, IPO, corporate restructuring and trust matters from offices in Singapore and Hong Kong.”
Several partners at the Maples Group received individual rankings in the guide. Michael Gagie is listed as an eminent practitioner in offshore corporate and finance, including investment funds.
Ann Ng achieved Band 1 status in the same category. Matt Roberts is ranked in Band 2, while Derrick Kan appears in Band 4.
Sharon Yap is recognised as up and coming in offshore corporate and finance. In offshore dispute resolution, Aisling Dwyer and Nick Stern both hold Band 3 positions.
The Cayman Islands-based firm provides legal, fiduciary, fund administration and regulatory services.
Its law firm arm operates as Maples and Calder, with offices in multiple locations including Hong Kong and Singapore.
On 1 December, the firm appointed Guy Major and Tyler Kim as co-chief executive officers of MaplesFS.
In November, the group advised on a US$1.25 billion aircraft asset-backed securities issuance.
The firm also received multiple Tier 1 placements in directories such as the Legal 500 Caribbean Guide earlier in the year.
