Unemployed Caymanians interested in strengthening their skills and improving their employment prospects have until Friday, August 14, to apply for the next cohorts of the Government-funded Ready2Work programme.
The Ministry of Education and Training is reminding eligible applicants that applications close at 11:59 p.m. on August 14. Two 12-week cohorts are scheduled to begin later this year, running from September 7 to November 27 and September 28 to December 18.
Applications can be submitted through moescholarships.gov.ky by selecting the Ready2Work programme from the list of available opportunities.
Delivered by the Ministry’s National Training and Development Unit in partnership with Inspire Cayman Training and employers across the Cayman Islands, Ready2Work is designed to help unemployed Caymanians, recent graduates and people considering a career change prepare for the workplace.
The programme combines practical training with individual support, giving participants an opportunity to build skills that can help them compete for employment. Training includes career coaching, CV and interview preparation, workplace communication, professional skills development and employer networking. Participants also receive one-on-one support and opportunities to gain practical workplace experience through work-based learning.
The programme is fully funded and offered at no cost to eligible participants. Training takes place Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., with extended hours during the first week.
Since its launch in 2016, Ready2Work has delivered 71 cohorts and helped hundreds of Caymanians prepare for employment, explore different career paths and develop skills for long-term success.
Allison Anglin, Acting Manager of the National Training & Development Unit, said the programme represents an investment in Caymanians and encouraged those considering participation to take advantage of the opportunity.
“Ready2Work is more than a training programme—it is an investment in people,” Anglin said.
To qualify, applicants must be Caymanian, at least 17 years old and unemployed. They must also be registered with Workforce Opportunities & Residency Cayman (WORC), or have submitted a WORC registration application before applying to Ready2Work.
The Ministry is also encouraging individuals who may need additional assistance, including childcare support, to contact the Ready2Work team to discuss available options.
