The Cayman Islands Institute of Professional Accountants (CIIPA) is calling on its members to volunteer in classrooms to help inspire the next generation of accounting and finance professionals.
CIIPA is partnering with educational institutions across the Cayman Islands to support students enrolled in numeracy, introductory accounting and managerial accounting programmes.
Volunteers will be asked to share their knowledge and industry experience through classroom sessions that typically last one hour.
Depending on the programme, members may be asked to participate in one or two sessions a week.
CIIPA said the initiative is designed to help students build confidence, strengthen their understanding of key accounting concepts and gain insight into careers in the profession.
Marilyn Layne, CIIPA’s director of education and training, said even a small commitment from members could make a lasting difference.
“One of the most meaningful ways our members can give back is by investing in the next generation,” Layne told the Cayman Independent.
“These classroom sessions require only a small time commitment, but they can have a lasting impact by helping students build confidence, strengthen their understanding of accounting and finance, and see the many opportunities the profession has to offer.”
CIIPA members interested in taking part in the upcoming school year should contact Lane by emailing marilyn.layne@ciipa.ky for more information.
