Two senior officials within the Cayman Islands Football Association (CIFA) have been appointed to FIFA committees.
CIFA president Alfredo Whittaker is now on FIFA’s Stadium and Security Committee, while CIFA Women’s technical director Martha Godet has been appointed to the Women’s Football Development Committee.
The appointments place two Cayman representatives within key FIFA decision-making bodies responsible for shaping global football policy, infrastructure standards and development strategies, CIFA noted in a press release.
It said the selections reflect growing confidence in both the association and Cayman within the international football community.
“This speaks to the trust and confidence FIFA has in CIFA and in the work being done in the Cayman Islands,” Whittaker said.
“It’s an opportunity to contribute, to learn and to ensure that the perspectives of smaller member associations are part of the global conversation.”
FIFA’s Stadium and Security Committee plays a central role in advising on stadium requirements, safety protocols, security measures and operational standards for FIFA competitions worldwide.
Whittaker’s appointment positions Cayman Islands football within discussions that directly influence how international matches and tournaments are delivered.
Godet’s role on the Women’s Football Development Committee aligns with CIFA’s continued focus on expanding women’s and girls’ football locally, the association said.
The committee is responsible for advancing the global women’s game through policy development, targeted programmes and long-term strategic initiatives.
“These appointments recognise the experience and expertise within our association,” Godet said.
“They also reinforce CIFA’s commitment to contributing meaningfully to FIFA’s objectives, both on and off the field.”
The dual appointments are seen as a significant milestone for Cayman Islands football, giving the jurisdiction a direct voice in discussions that shape the future of the sport at the highest level.
