Chamber of Commerce to hold annual careers fair at UCCI

The Cayman Islands Chamber of Commerce has announced the date and location of its ‘2026 Careers, Education and Training Expo’.

The annual event will take place on 27 March, from 10am to 3pm at Sir Vassel Johnson Hall, University College of the Cayman Islands (UCCI).

The fair is one of the chamber’s longest-running initiatives, having been held continuously since the mid-1990s.

The event was established to strengthen the connection between education and employment by bringing students face-to-face with employers, training providers and youth development organisations.

It is open to high school students from Year 10 and above in both public and private schools, as well as college and university students.

School principals are being encouraged to support student attendance as part of their career guidance programmes.

According to the chamber, more than 48 organisations are expected to participate in the fair, representing a wide cross-section of Cayman’s private sector and education and training landscape.

Exhibitors will promote career pathways across key industries, along with scholarships, internships, apprenticeships, vocational training and professional development opportunities.

Chamber chief executive officer Wil Pineau said the Careers Expo is a central part of the organisation’s advocacy focus on building a future-ready workforce.

“For nearly three decades, the chamber’s Careers Expo has helped young people understand what the world of work actually looks like and how they can prepare for it,” Pineau said in a chamber press release.

“That mission is even more important today as workplaces evolve due to technology, artificial intelligence and new business models.”

Pineau also emphasised the importance of expanding awareness of vocational and technical career options.

“We must place greater emphasis on vocational and technical careers and the training that supports them,” he said.

“These roles are essential to Cayman’s economic resilience and offer meaningful, well-paid opportunities for our young people.”

While noting that some schools have begun hosting their own career events, Pineau highlighted the value of a coordinated, national approach led by the chamber.

“The chamber’s Careers, Education and Training Expo remains the most comprehensive careers event in the Cayman Islands because we represent the largest cross-section of employers,” he said.

“We encourage all schools to participate so we can avoid duplication of effort and unnecessary costs for employers who are already facing rising operating expenses.”

The chamber is also calling on businesses, industry associations and training institutions that are not yet involved to participate in the 2026 Expo, either as exhibitors or sponsors.

“This is about ensuring Caymanians and legal residents are the first to learn about the opportunities available in our local economy and education system,” Pineau said.

Organisations interested in participating are invited to contact Emily Sintorn at emily.sintorn@caymanchamber.ky or call (345) 743-9126.

The deadline to confirm exhibition space is 15 February.
