Cayman’s CV5 Capital fund platform gains AIMA membership

CV5 Capital has become a member of the Alternative Investment Management Association (AIMA), the London-headquartered trade body for the global alternative investment industry.

Founded in 1990, AIMA is a not-for-profit organisation that provides leadership and advocacy in the field of alternative investments, including hedge funds, private credit, and other asset classes beyond traditional stocks and bonds.

The association has about 2,100 corporate members in over 60 countries.

AIMA takes on a leadership role in various industry initiatives, including advocacy, policy and regulatory engagement, educational programmes and the establishment of sound practice guides.

The association also co-founded the Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst designation, a specialised credential for alternative investment professionals.

Based in the Cayman Islands, CV5 Capital operates as a regulated, turnkey platform supporting hedge funds and digital-asset managers with fund launch and scaling services.

In its announcement on 18 February, the company said the membership aligns with its existing focus on governance frameworks, investor protection and operational oversight.

CV5 Capital also pointed to its work in tokenisation and on-/off-chain interoperability as part of its approach to fund structures.

Separately, David Lloyd, founder and CEO at CV5 Capital, said in a LinkedIn post the membership reflects the firm’s regulatory positioning.

“As a CIMA-regulated hedge fund and digital asset platform operating in the Cayman Islands, alignment with AIMA reflects our continued commitment to institutional governance, regulatory best practice, and global industry standards across alternative investments,” Lloyd said.

Lloyd added that the association’s advocacy work was a factor in the firm’s decision.

“AIMA plays a critical role in representing the interests of the alternative investment community, promoting sound regulation, investor protection, and operational excellence worldwide,” he said.

“We look forward to contributing to industry dialogue and engaging with fellow members across hedge funds, private credit, digital assets, and emerging strategies.”

He also cited the evolving nature of the sector as a reason for the firm’s engagement with AIMA.

“As the alternative investment landscape continues to evolve, particularly within digital asset and tokenized fund structures, collaboration and regulatory clarity remain essential,” he said.
