The National Workforce Development Committee is seeking input from employers across the Cayman Islands as it develops a strategy aimed at strengthening workforce participation among Caymanians.
The committee has launched the Caymanian Employment Survey, which will gather information on employers’ experiences hiring, developing and retaining Caymanian workers.
Responses will help shape a National Workforce Development Strategy intended to better align education, training and employment programmes with the needs of the local labour market.
The survey focuses on several workforce issues, including the availability of suitably qualified Caymanians for open positions.
It will also examine barriers employers face when recruiting and retaining Caymanian staff, as well as opportunities for internships, apprenticeships and entry-level employment.
The committee is encouraging businesses from all sectors of the economy to take part in the consultation, according to a government press release on 10 June.
According to the committee, information collected through the survey will be anonymised and reported in aggregate form, preventing individual respondents or businesses from being identified.
Danielle Roberts, deputy chief officer in the Ministry of Caymanian Employment and Immigration, said employer feedback would help guide future workforce policies and programmes.
“This feedback is essential to identifying practical solutions that support both businesses and Caymanians seeking meaningful career opportunities,” Roberts said.
“By participating, employers can help shape policies and programmes that respond directly to the needs of Cayman’s labour market.”
The survey opened on 10 June and will remain available until 24 June 2026 through the government’s public consultation website.
The committee said the findings will be used to identify workforce development priorities and better understand how employers view the current labour market.
