Cayman Airways has appointed global aviation services firm AirlinePros International as its representative in Brazil to help strengthen its commercial presence in the country.
The move builds on an existing partnership between Cayman Airways Limited and AirlinePros – an airline representation and distribution company – across the UK, Canada and Panama.
Under the agreement, AirlinePros will oversee sales development, trade engagement and commercial representation across Brazil, working directly with travel agencies, tour operators and corporate buyers.
The appointment follows Cayman Airways’ recent entry into Brazil’s Billing and Settlement Plan (BSP), enabling local agencies to issue and settle tickets through global distribution systems.
Altamiro Medici, regional managing partner at AirlinePros Brazil, described the expansion as a key milestone.
“This partnership marks an exciting new chapter for Cayman Airways in Brazil,” he said in a press release, adding that Brazil’s travel trade is “sophisticated and opportunity rich”.
“Our mission is to make Cayman Airways easy to sell – simplifying access in Portuguese, accelerating group and series quotes, and partnering closely with agencies to convert demand into bookings,” he said.
AirlinePros will focus on boosting the airline’s visibility in Brazil through trade workshops, training sessions and joint marketing campaigns promoting Cayman’s beaches, diving and culinary experiences.
Rebecca Meadows, also a regional managing partner at AirlinePros Brazil, said the emphasis would be on practical tools for agents.
“Our focus is on practical support that helps agencies close more sales,” she said.
“That means clear fare availability in the GDS, seamless BSP settlement, responsive helpdesk service, and targeted training that turns product knowledge into revenue.”
The partnership marks a notable development in the Brazilian aviation market, with AirlinePros becoming the first firm to represent an offline carrier following recent regulatory changes.
Paul Tibbetts, Cayman Airways’ executive vice president for commercial affairs and chief financial officer, said the airline is pleased to strengthen its partnership with AirlinePros.
“We look forward to welcoming more Brazilian travellers to experience our beautiful islands, and the warmth that defines both our destination and our airline,” he added.
AirlinePros has represented Cayman Airways in Canada since 2017, later adding Panama and the UK to its remit.
