Bold, driven and full of heart, Tiona Miller, 25, from North Side and George Town is challenging pageant norms with a message of inclusivity, confidence and joy.
The Miss Universe Cayman Islands contestant tells Cayman Independent what she believes the future of pageantry looks like, what she does when not vying for the crown and her favourite spot on the islands.
What inspired you to enter this year’s Miss Universe Cayman Islands?
I was inspired to enter Miss Universe Cayman Islands to show that beauty isn’t one- dimensional. It can come in every size, every background, and every personality.
I want women to know that they can be both glamorous and intelligent, that they can honour tradition while still pushing beyond the boundaries of expectation.
The future of pageantry is inclusive, powerful and real, and I want to be the face of that change.

What are you looking forward to most in the competition?
I’m looking forward to pageant night the most. The lights, the cameras and all the action.
I cannot wait to feel the energy of the crowd cheering me on as I do what I love most: bringing joy to others.
As an aspiring entertainer, this will be a moment where my passion for performance meets the purpose of uplifting those around me. I can’t wait to shine.
Is there anything you’re nervous about?
I’m nervous about the announcements at the end of pageant night. The atmosphere will be filled with tension and emotion, and everyone will be under pressure.
There’s always that little voice wondering, ‘What if I don’t win?’ and it can be overwhelming. But I remind myself that this experience is about more than a title.
It’s about growth, confidence and the memories I’ll carry with me, no matter what the outcome.
What would winning the competition mean to you?
Winning the competition would mean the world to me. It would be confirmation that my dreams are valid and that all my hard work, sacrifice and dedication have truly paid off.
I would be able to pursue the things I’ve longed for, such as travel, being a public figure and building a legacy.
However, beyond personal achievement, it would be a chance to serve as a beacon of hope and inspiration for others, especially young people still discovering their own paths.
I believe that true leadership is about service, and with this title, I would be committed to using my influence to promote authenticity, courage and compassion.
Winning would mark the beginning of a greater mission: alleviating barriers, fostering meaningful dialogue and shaping a future where everyone feels seen, heard and empowered.

What do you do when you’re not competing in Miss Universe Cayman Islands and what do you enjoy most about it?
I work as an analyst at the Cayman Islands Monetary Authority, where I help safeguard the integrity of our financial industry through monitoring and regulatory oversight.
What I enjoy most about my role is the opportunity to collaborate with professionals across various sectors. It continuously challenges me to stay informed, adaptable and engaged.
What do you love about living on the Cayman Islands?
It’s the natural beauty and strong sense of community.
As a contemplative and artistic person, I often find peace and inspiration in simple things, like going for a swim or taking a stroll in nature.
But it’s also the warmth of the people, the rich culture and the way we support one another that truly makes this home.
These experiences remind me of how beautiful life can be, both in nature and in human connection.
Do you have a favourite spot on the islands and why?
My favourite spot on Grand Cayman is Seven Mile Beach. Its wide stretch of soft sand and crystal-clear water make it the perfect place to unwind.
Whether I’m there to relax on my own or to celebrate with family and friends, it is always a piece of paradise.
