The Ministry of Tourism and Trade Development is hosting its Tourism Ambassador Speak-Off Competition this week, with four finalists competing for the prestigious annual title.
The event, scheduled from 11am to 1pm on 12 June at Hotel Indigo, will determine the next tourism ambassador for the Cayman Islands through a public speaking competition.
The format allows each finalist to demonstrate their communication skills and knowledge of the islands’ tourism offerings before a panel of judges.
It is open to public attendance, with organisers encouraging community support for the finalists.
The competition forms part of the Ministry of Tourism and Trade Development’s broader strategy to engage young Caymanians in tourism promotion and development activities.
Competition structure
The winner will receive the official designation for one year, along with CI$1,000 in prize money and personal and professional development opportunities.
They will represent the territory in various promotional activities and tourism initiatives.
Additional prizes include a first-place trophy, two Cayman Airways tickets to any destination, and a premium Department of Tourism gift bag.
The runner-up will receive $500, a second-place trophy, two Cayman Airways tickets to the Sister Islands, and a premium gift bag from the Department of Tourism.
