Carey Olsen promotes three lawyers to counsel in Cayman Islands

Law firm Carey Olsen has appointed three lawyers as counsel at its Cayman Islands office.

Jasmin Davies and Jason Mbwake, who specialise in dispute resolution and litigation, and trusts and private wealth lawyer Katie Turney have all been promoted to the senior role.

Carey Olsen Cayman Islands managing partner Sam Dawson said the promotions reflected the lawyers’ reputations among clients and colleagues and the strength of the firm’s litigation and trusts and private wealth teams.

“Jasmin, Jason and Katie are highly talented lawyers who have established strong reputations with both clients and colleagues,” he said in a press release.

“Their promotions to counsel are well deserved and reflect the depth of expertise across our growing Cayman Islands litigation and trusts and private wealth practices.”

Davies advises on complex commercial and financial services litigation, shareholder disputes, fraud investigations, cross-border liquidations, restructuring and trusts disputes.

She is admitted to practise in Australia, England and Wales, Guernsey and Cayman and has more than 10 years of offshore litigation experience.

She is a member of the International Women in Restructuring Confederation, INSOL and STEP, and was recently invited to join C5’s Fraud, Asset Tracing and Insolvency Next Gen Committee.

Mbwake focuses on contentious restructuring and insolvency, commercial litigation, and regulatory and white-collar crime investigations.

His clients include financial institutions, investment funds, bondholders, companies in financial distress, directors and insolvency practitioners.

He completed the INSOL Future Leaders Programme in 2023 and is a member of the Restructuring and Insolvency Specialists Association of the Cayman Islands and the Young Fraud Lawyers’ Association.

Turney advises high-net-worth individuals, beneficiaries, trustees, executors and other fiduciaries on contentious and non-contentious trust and estate matters.

Her work includes wills and estate planning, wealth structuring, and the creation, restructuring and termination of trusts and foundation companies, including arrangements involving multiple jurisdictions.

A qualified Trusts and Estates Practitioner and full member of STEP, she serves on the organisation’s Contentious Trusts and Estates Special Interest Group Global Steering Committee.

She was also elected to the STEP Cayman Islands Branch Council in June 2026.
