The National Trust of the Cayman Islands is inviting members of the community to learn more about the early history of George Town at a free upcoming talk.
‘An Abridged History of George Town, 1679-1828′, on 13 August, will see a panel of local historians share little known facts about this period, some of which have only recently come to light.
This includes information about the earliest families in the town. The talk will end with a question-and-answer session.
It will be followed by the National Trust’s annual general meeting. Everyone is welcome to the talk, but only members of the trust in good standing will be able to take part in the AGM.
The trust hopes similar talks about other periods and other Cayman districts will be organised in the future.
National Trust executive director Frank Roulstone told Cayman Independent: “As a generational George Towner I am excited by what I have learned about our history and am so grateful for the persons in our community who have done the research and are willing to share it with the wider community.”
The talk starts at 6:30pm at the Town Hall in George Town. Anyone interested in attending should RSVP by emailing info@nationaltrust.org.ky
