To help demystify accountancy fundamentals, the Cayman Islands Chamber of Commerce is hosting a half-day workshop titled ‘Basic Accounting Made Easier’.
The session, on 16 January, is designed for those who need a working understanding of accounting in their roles.
This includes small and medium business owners and managers who regularly deal with budgets, invoices or financial reports but may not have formal accounting training.
Topics covered include understanding the difference between debits and credits, recognising key financial statement categories such as assets, liabilities, equity, revenue and expenses, and learning how cash accounting differs from accrual accounting.
The workshop will also offer hands-on practice with prepaid amounts, month-end adjustments and accruals, as well as guidance on how to read and interpret income statements and balance sheets.
Emily Sintorn, training coordinator at the chamber, told Cayman Independent: “Understanding the basics of accounting is essential for any business owner or manager.
“This workshop breaks down complex concepts into practical steps, helping participants gain confidence in managing their finances and making informed decisions.”
The session runs from 9am to 1pm at the chamber conference room in Governors Square, Grand Cayman.
