Cayman-based AI strategist and education leader Tamsin Deasey-Weinstein has earned the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP) Artificial Intelligence Governance Professional (AIGP) credential, an internationally recognised certification in AI governance.
The AIGP signals specialist expertise in the practical safeguards required to deploy artificial intelligence safely, lawfully and with accountability. Positioned by the IAPP as a premier credential for AI governance practitioners, it covers the AI lifecycle, risk management and the operationalisation of governance frameworks within organisations. The qualification remains relatively rare, and Deasey-Weinstein is believed to be among the first Cayman-based professionals to hold it.
Deasey-Weinstein serves on the Cayman Islands NCFC National Digital Transformation Strategy Task Force, which focuses on Digital Trust, Intelligence and Transformation, and Digital Assets and Economic Growth. She said AI governance underpins all three pillars, from data governance and cybersecurity to the safe deployment of AI in public services and maintaining Cayman’s global competitiveness.
She is also studying through Oxford University’s Saïd Business School Executive Diploma in AI for Business, alongside 66 senior professionals from 25 countries, including leaders responsible for national digital transformation and major enterprise AI implementation.
Deasey-Weinstein said the AIGP credential strengthens organisations’ ability to translate governance into practical tools such as risk assessments, policy controls, vendor requirements and accountability structures.
“Governance is what lets teams adopt AI with confidence, because they know what’s allowed, what’s not, who is accountable, and how risk is managed,” she said in a press release.
She added that her focus is now on embedding responsible AI practices across Cayman to protect people, strengthen trust and support long-term competitiveness.
